The wife of a Bucks County, Pa., deer hunter who was shot and killed last November is suing the lawyer who fired the fatal shot, MyFoxPhilly reports.
A wrongful death lawsuit was filed yesterday by the widow of 52-year-old Barry Groh.
She claims lawyer David Manilla is trying to hide assets, including significant real estate holdings that were transferred to his mother and sister in the days after the shooting.
Her husband was killed shortly after he bagged an eight-point buck deer when he was fatally wounded by a rifle bullet. It is illegal to hunt deer with a rifle in Bucks County.
Other hunters found the Quakertown man's body shortly after he'd called his family, seeking his son's help to carry the deer out of the woods.
Manilla was not at the scene when Groh’s body was discovered. Police say Manilla told officers he mistook the man for a deer.
Groh was wearing camouflage, and his orange hunting vest was next to his body. His shotgun was found 15 feet away, leaning against a tree.
