SAN DIEGO – The mother of an alleged child assassin for a Mexican drug cartel has pleaded guilty in San Diego federal court to illegally entering the United States after being deported.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Thursday that Yolanda Lugo Jimenez is expected to serve prison time before being deported to Mexico.
Lugo Jimenez's lawyer, Jack Boltax, tells the Union-Tribune she likely will be sentenced to 18 to 24 months in prison, but he is working on getting her a light sentence.
Lugo Jimenez, a Mexican citizen, was deported from San Diego in 1997 after pleading guilty to possessing rock cocaine.
U.S. law enforcement officials have said she is the mother of a boy who claims he carried out at least four executions for Mexican drug traffickers.
