BLOOMFIELD, Conn. -- A Bloomfield man who was convicted of sexual assault in 2005 has been arrested on charges that he repeatedly raped a girl for more than two years.
Robert L. Hopkins has been charged with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He was arrested Monday and is in custody with bail set at $50,000.
The warrant says the victim told the investigator that Hopkins had been raping her and committing other sexual acts since she was 9. She is now 11.
Police say Hopkins denied that he ever had sexual contact with the girl.
Hopkins was convicted in 2005 of sexual assault and sentenced to 10 year of probation.
He is scheduled to be arraigned at Hartford Superior Court on July 18. It is not known if Hopkins is represented by a lawyer.
